I just got done reading an article about why baby name trends are the way they are… apparently, we’re not as original as any of us like to think we are… I’ve claimed this for awhile.  I have no original thought.  I steal jokes.  I sing other people’s songs.  But, ultimately it’s not about me today.  It’s about mom’s.

I’m sitting right now in a recliner watching Angie hold Isaac on her first Mother’s Day as a mom.  Currently, she’s tracing the lines in his face as he sleeps.  He’s just eaten for the sixth time today (since midnight this AM) and has increased from 16cc’s (3+ Tablespoons) last night to 30cc’s (6 Tablespoons) this evening.  His breathing is regulating more and more each time we see him.  His IV is out: no infections were found.  He’s sustaining his own body temp, so he’s curled up in a little baby blue outfit with a hat on that says, “too cute” … it’s already going to his head. Today has been a GREAT DAY!

The NICU is an amazing place to be on Mother’s Day as all of these “moms” (today’s nurses) are all so focused on the care of someone else’s kids.  They truly are an amazing bunch.

But, today of all day’s we remember moms.  What they gave, sacrificed, worried about and stressed over for you to be here.  And, maybe your mom wasn’t around.  Some woman, some where cared for you.  Crazy-Old Mable in the nursery at church.  Your Aunt Millie that always snuck you candy.  Some woman, some where loves you.

We are who we are because of our mom’s.  As I sit and watch Angie watch her new son breathe … it reminds me that this is the picture of GOD’s love like now other.
