FIRST 100 DAYS//

It’s 11:43 on DAY 100.
It’s been a crazy 3 months, 10 days, 11 hours, 13 minutes since Isaac was born.

In 100 days, we’ve seen quite a bit of emotion.
We’ve come to know grace in new ways.
We’ve been able to share our story with quite a few people interested in adoption.

Angie told me today that when we first started our looking into adoption, she told GOD that she didn’t want to do it if HE wasn’t going to use us.
We’ve seen that “using” in 100 days.

I’ve recognized a new kind of love in my life in 100 days.
People ask all the time what I think about being a dad.  Which is a weird enough question as it is… what am I gonna say? “It’s awful, I hate it.”
Which couldn’t be farther from the truth.
It’s one of the best things in life so far.
I love my wife.  And, I didn’t realize that there was a different kind of love out there that just as rewarding.

It’s weird.  But, it’s awesome!
He’s awesome.
He wears a shirt that says, “Mr. Amazing.”
It’s true.

Probably the weirdest thing is out people feel the obligation to give us parenting advice.  Warranted or not, everyone has an opinion.
EVERYONE!

As you can see from the header, Isaac had his first haircut today.  I know most people would think that 100 days is too early, but trust me… the mullet needed to go.  When I walked into the salon (That’s what it is.  I go there.  I’ve dealt with it.  You can, too.) Isaac and I were the only Y chromosomes in the place.  Every woman in the room instantly was locked onto the little man.

How content he was.
How sweet he was.
How cute he was.

All true.

Once my hair was cut and I pulled him out of his seat, the goo-goo-ga-ing started up again.  One of the other stylists asked if we were going to cut his hair.  When I replied with a simple “Yes,” the room was suddenly divided like Chicago when the SOX & CUBS play on the same day.  About half the room thought it was adorable that “Dad brought him for a haircut” and the other half had a much less positive reaction.

One little old lady that was in to get her hair done for the weekend… she told me that’s what she was there… also informed me very emphatically that Isaac “was just too young and I didn’t cut my sons hair until he was almost 2 years old and his hair was just adorable with the little blonde curls all over and if you cut that little boy’s hair he won’t be able to do that and it’s just so much cuter longer than it is shorter…” and on and on and on and on…

Needless to say, we still cut it.
He looks so much better.
Cleaner.

And, don’t be concerned.  We saved every little hair.  It’s in an envelope in his baby book… which is kind of creepy when you think about it.

Our life has completely turned upside down in 100 days.
And, I wouldn’t change a blessed thing.
