I’m not the biggest proponent of the book the “5 Love Languages.”
Proponent meaning, I don’t think it’s the “be all, end all” of relationship/communication understandings.
I do, however, think it’s helpful to know how you perceive love.
Most people connect with all of these on some level, but have 2 that tend to stand out above the others.
Touch.
Quality time.
Gifts.
Words of Affirmation.
Acts of Service.
My top 2 are Touch and (as much as I don’t like to admit it) Words of Affirmation.
I’m a hugger. So, my need for touch happens pretty naturally.
I regularly get my words of affirmation from people that know I need them.
Family, close friends.
Words that speak to my character do it for me.
Things like, “Your a good dad” as I snuggle Isaac to sleep do it for me.
I don’t always know what to do with compliments, though.
I usually fumble around with them.
But, I know I need them.
We all need to hear things that make us feel good.
That speak to our character.
I think we all need Words of Affirmation.

So, what do you need to hear from someone today?
Do you need to hear someone say they love you?
Or that they’re sorry?
Or that you’re a good parent?
Or that you really did well with that report?
Or maybe, that you’re forgiven?

P.S. // What do you need to say to someone today? Don’t let it go another day.
