UP TO SOMETHING//

Tonight for this journey we’re doing at Crosspoint, we went on a field trip with our LTG (small group for you non-XPTers).
Pretty simple idea.
Show up.
Get handed a CD.
Insert it in the CD player in your car.
Listen & drive.

We went to the school where we meet now, then to the local mall,  then to where we’re looking for warehouse space, then home.
Not too long.  38 minutes for our group with drive time. But, it gets pretty clear that GOD is up to something when you see this:

Those are two other groups walking around the school and praying about where we are and where we’re going.
We saw 8 other car loads of Crosspoint peeps (as some people call them) going on this same journey tonight.
But, it doesn’t stop at tonight’s groups.
It didn’t start here either.

GOD’s clearly been up to something for awhile.
We’ve heard stories of sacrifice over the last three years.  Crazy stories.  Decisions people have made to live lives with GOD sized dreams that make no sense for people to make.

But, it takes a personal turn when we start talking about sacrificial investment.
I grew up in a home where giving to the church was normal.
Tithe?  Check.
Time to volunteer?  Check.
Getting behind a vision and giving above and beyond?  Check.

But, I can honestly say that I don’t know that I ever understood sacrificial giving in it’s truest sense.
I’ve had my moments when salvation and redemption has become clearer to me.
That was a sacrifice.  One I don’t deserve.
But, when this journey began, I knew we were going to be talking about how each of us can give monetarily to fuel this dream of a new home for Crosspoint.
I knew that Angie and I would give and that it would be sacrificial in our budget.

For us to give sacrificially, has a lot of implications that I didn’t realize until a very tearful conversation yesterday.
It means we hold off on upgrades to the house.
It means we don’t shop as often for non necessities (not like we did a ton anyway, but it’s something.)
It means we don’t pay off school loans as quickly.
It means I’m selling guitars.
It means our family “size growth” goes on hold.

These are all our plans.
We’d much rather be about GOD’s plans.
And, honestly, we’re not completely comfortable with it all.
But we need to do it.

Pray for us that we stay obedient….

How is GOD calling you to fuel his crazy dreams?
