Gone are the Saturdays when I’d sleep until noon. Get up to eat lunch then lay back down for a multi-hour nap. Strangely, shortly after we were married (coming up on 6 years ago – doesn’t seem like that long) I started getting this feeling that I wasn’t be productive if I slept in too late on a Saturday. I still stay up late on Friday nights (much like every other night), I struggle to get out of bed during the week, but Saturdays are different.
Perhaps it’s the quiet before the rest of the house is up and moving… before the trips to the Super Walmart for groceries (they’re the cheapest).
I don’t know. Maybe it’s just the coffee… Saturdays are the only days I brew at home. Most weekends it’s Starbucks, although Angie is partial to Dunkin’ Donuts. The ever elusive “THEY” say it’s better than Starbucks. I think they lie. But, I do like their donuts. Today’s brew is special. This week we’re transitioning to a new coffee provider for Crosspoint, so I’m testing it out one last time. Land of 1,000 Hills Coffee is a small company out of Atlanta that is working with the post-genocide Rwanda to better their economy. It’s all fairtrade and it’s helping restore a broken part of the world. I can get behind that. I think we should all get behind restoration works in our world.
So, maybe it’s just the coffee today. I don’t know. But, I love this time.
