Last night was what will, I’m sure, be one of many sleepless nights.
Isaac was just a few miles away. As we curled up in bed at the Quality Inn, there was this very real understanding of distance. All we wanted to do was sit next the little guy as he “cooked a little more” (that’s what nurse Tim called it). But, we knew we needed to let him sleep. So, we did.
After forcing down breakfast, a pretty decent Belgian waffle, we made our way back to the NICU. He looks great (this picture is actually from last night around 11pm). Sleeping soundly. Borg-like tubes and all. (Apparently, he’s already a Star Trek fan… much to his mother’s dismay…) The doctors can’t give us much information yet. We’re still just considered “visitors” until we sign some legal documents tomorrow afternoon. At that point, we’ll have more of the medical info and full range of details.
At this point, here are some specific ways to be praying for Isaac and his parents:
1. That his lungs develop quickly, effectively, and fully.
2. That all the legal sides of things work smoothly over the next 36 hours.
3. That Angie and I get some sleep… we seem to have a long road ahead of us.
4. We’re going to be settling in in South Bend for the time being. A daily 6 hour round trip drive doesn’t appeal that much… plus we want to be close.
5. For us to trust… GOD is good. He has been so far and we don’t expect any difference, but watching your little guy all hooked up with tubes is enough to drive anyone mad.
Thanks & keep checking back for more details.
We’re REALLY looking forward to holding him.

We are praying for all three of you, and we really can’t wait for you to be able to hold Isaac (I’ll stop with the “Sweet Baby James” now that I realize what you’re calling him!) either. We love you all!!
He’s here?! What a blessing! I will be praying with you – how exciting.
I’m praying PJ…cant’ wait to meet him
