It’s been a long day. It seems like sleeping last night in the hotel in South Bend was a dream… it feels very surreal. We actually came home tonight to shore up a few details for the next few weeks. It’s looking as if we’ll be up north for the next few weeks. Charlie was thrilled when we walked in the door. Just think how much more excited he’ll be to have a new one to sniff!
Really at this point, we only have good news! And, it comes in multiples:
1. His lungs are improving. He’s proving to be a sound sleeper (which is good with all the noise I make). We won’t have a lot of detail until tomorrow after 3pm when we become the legal custodians of the adoption agency’s guardianship of the boy. Until then, we’re just considered guests and the only real info we have is what we can pick up on from Eve’s Dropping on conversations between nurses & doctors… then they start throwing out big words and they might as well be speaking Greek.
Here are a few pictures from right before we left late this afternoon. (I’m also beginning a Photo-A-Day blog of him for at least the first year of his life. We think it would be a neat thing to give to the family when he turns 1.) More photos can be seen there.
2. Angie’s school district approved her extended vacation so she won’t be going back for the rest of the this year. She gets to focus all of her energy into Isaac, and likely into me trying to play too rough… I’m sure I’ll get time-out or two. I heard we may be moving to a pipe-cleaner point system at home for how good my behavior is.
3. We found the closest Starbucks to the Hospital. It’s close. It’s nice. My Americano was good… shots were a little bitter, but it was still good. It kind of felt like home.
4. Some WONDERFUL parents of some wonderful friends of ours have provided us with the guest quarters at their house about 30mins from the downtown South Bend. This is a HUGE answer to prayer as we’ve been trying to figure out how we were going to afford a few weeks in a college town hotel (remember, Notre Dame is there. We drove by it today… it was under construction. Hoping to see the north side in the coming days).
So, we continue to see that GOD is good. We continue to be overwhelmed with kindness.
Keep the prayers coming. We need every one of them.

God is working it all out…wow!! We are covering you all in prayer. Last night Wyatt prayed for baby Isaac. It was very sweet and sounded something like this, “And dear fadder (we still struggle with “th”) we just pway (“r’s” are hard too) that his yiddle (and “l’s”) lungs keep getting stronger, and stronger so he can come home. Amen
We love you guys!
