DAY 9// STAYING AWAKE

day9_head(LINK TO TODAY’S PHOTO)

Time in the NICU is like time nowhere else. It just disappears. I’m not sure if it’s because we’re sitting here staring at our son or if it’s because it’s so different than the rest of life. It’ll feel like we’ve been there for 15 minutes and it’s been 2 hours. It’s weird.

Today was a GREAT day for Isaac and for us. We left the hospital last night around 6:30 and then we let him sleep through the morning (we’re finding that when he gets prolonged times without being bothered by anyone but nurses he takes the biggest steps forward). When I fed him today at 2:30, Homey took the whole bottle! 45cc’s!

That’s right, I’m winning! Sorry, Ang.

Then after a second poopy diaper between feedings, he spent about an hour and a half just looking at his mom! She’d talk to him, he’d squawk a little. She’d smile at him and he’d stare back. It was a great day to see some of his little personality come out! Lots of fun.

He’s back down to the regular nasal cannula at 1 liter of pressure an hour (as low as they can go before taking him off). His numbers (heart rate, Oxygen saturation in his blood, and respiratory rate) all looked good all day. He really is doing quite well!!!

Keep praying. The BIG 3 are still in effect:
1. Off any form of O2 support.
2. Putting on weight (he put on 2 oz. last night!)
3. Taking all feedings by bottle (he took all of every other one today).

Thanks & we’ll see you soon!
