MEMORIAL DAY//

memday_head

When I was a kid, at least the way I remember it, Memorial Day was one of the days we knew Dad would be home.  He was a policeman for nearly 30 years and much of that time he spent working as a detective meaning he could always get called out on case.  But, holidays, he was home.  Days off he was home or on the golf course … probably why he ended up in the golf industry when he retired.  Mom was always home on holidays because teachers didn’t teach on them.  Memorial Day became a day for family in our home.

Today, Isaac’s first Memorial Day was very similar as he was surround by his family.  Angie’s parents, sister, and aunt came into town last night and this morning.  The new grandparents, aunt, and great great-aunt were all ecstatic to finally meet our new little guy.  It was a good day.

Dating back to the Civil War Memorial Day, origninaly called Decoration Day, commemorates the men and women who died in service of the country in the military.

To those of you who have served or are serving:
Thank you for making our home a safe place to live.  Now Memorial Day can be a time for family for my son, too.

  1. Not to strip you of your identity or anything BUT you do realize that I spend my time on your blog in the Photo-a-Day of Isaac part, right? :) Actually, I’ll take any post and savor it given your high probability of sleep-deprivation. Anyways…the thought was, you’re still a person…(like you’d forgotten)…I mean you can’t let your new role of father become your whole identity BUT your Isaac is really so very stinkin’ CUOOOOTE, It’d be so easy to do. Angie looks simply blissful! Take care of each other! Like, if you need a date or something and need a sitter or anything, like, I’d totally volunteer for that (like I’d have a shot in you know where…I KNOW there’s a freakin’ line). Take care…we’ll be checkin’ in via the blog…my Isaac likes lookin’ at your Isaac.

    Keeping ya’ll in our prayers,
    Jeri
