REFLECTIONS//

It’s no hidden fact that I love my son.  The doctor told me yesterday that she “loves seeing dads treat their kids that way” (the way I was being so affectionate to my sick son). GREAT!  They notice! I thought.  Maybe I AM qualified for this job (which no one truly is).

So, if I told you that I regularly change my desktop background to pictures of Isaac, you would think, “He really loves his son.”  Which I do.  However, the real reason I change it is because I like change.  I thrive in it.

+ With all that in mind, here’s my stroy:

This is my new desktop background.

Nice picture, right?  Subject is cute, smile is great, alignment is artsy… all things important to me.  Then I notice the depth in his eyes and the clarity of the light reflections.  Then I looked a little closer into the right eye (the bottom one if you’re having issues with the angle).  There was something in it.  Click on the image and you can see it full size for yourself.

Did you see it?

Just in case, here you go:

Yeah… it’s me.  Look close.  The whiteish part right in the middle of his pupil is my white/grey cabbie hat.  Just below that, the glasses, the beard, the camera, the fingers seen on the camera grip…

A little weird, right?

Then I thought of the theological, parental, life implications of this little boys eyes: He’s reflecting his father.

+ I’m not perfect.  Never have been, never will be, never will be even close.  But, what I show this child of GOD is what he’ll know of HIM.  What I show the world of GOD is what they know of HIM.  That’s a mission statement for a Christ-following life if I’ve ever heard one.

If I could reflect HIM more…
